About Us

Who Are We?

A UK based consultancy business helping rural, environmental and agricultural organisations to better reflect their members’ unique skills. Driving policy change to build an inclusive future for these sectors.

We recognise the increasing demand for rural businesses to demonstrate inclusivity, accessibility and diversity within their organisations, events and educational provisions. Clients, funding bodies, government legislation and societal expectations all play a key role in the cultural shift we are seeing within the sector. We support organisations, charities, projects and businesses to develop in line with this cultural shift, and to build resilient, progressive teams that embrace these new and innovative challenges.

Our Story

Barefoot Neuro started in the earth in 2019, we began as part of a community farm project in Leicestershire. A group of dedicated individuals came together to support our local community with fresh vegetables, on farm support groups, educational programmes and more.

As well as a flourishing market garden, we ran tailored programmes supporting underrepresented groups within sustainable food and farming including:

  • Neurodivergent people
  • Members of the LGBTQ+ community
  • Single parents
  • People of colour
  • Refugees
  • People facing homelessness
  • People facing isolation and poor mental health
  • People recovering from drug and alcohol addiction

When our families’ time on the project came to a natural end, Barefoot Neuro began to evolve into it’s current form. What began as a physical hub for our local community is now a national organisation. Supporting across multiple sectors related to sustainable food, farming and environmentalism.

Our Founder:

Hi, I’m Meg,

Founder of Barefoot Neurodiversity Consultancy, Principal Consultant and Communications Coach.

I’m also a neurodivergent person myself, having overcome selective mutism and school based anxiety as a child I was able to complete my degree and began my professional career in the NHS supporting neurodivergent children and families.

My passion for making businesses more accessible stems from my desire to see a more inclusive future for everyone, where the talents neurodivergent people bring to their profession can be truly valued. Not having the support systems in place that I needed prevented me from developing my strengths fully in my NHS career. Whilst selective mutism is a very frustrating and isolating experience, it gave me clear direction on how to structure a career that allows me to reach my potential; and the lived experience that sits alongside my professional qualifications to support others to do the same.
