This Barefoot life started in the earth in 2019, beginning as part of a community farm project in Leicestershire. A group of beautiful, passionate souls came together to support our local community with fresh vegetables, communal meals, shared experiences, learning days and more.
This Barefoot Life started as a sanctuary for people who needed us, initially those that found us were solo parents, land workers, and those seeking more connection and meaning in their lives and work.
Our Founder:
Hi, I’m Meg,
Founder of This Barefoot Life. I’m a holistic physio, neurodivergent coach, and mother to my two greatest teachers.
I’m also a neurodivergent person myself, having overcome selective mutism and school based anxiety as a child I was able to complete my degree and began my professional career in the NHS supporting neurodivergent children and families. As a young adult I was diagnosed with ADHD and Autism. Receiving these diagnoses did not profoundly change me, rather they confirmed what I had already accepted about myself: I sit outside the mainstream path, I thrive when I honour my own truth, and walk the path that feels like mine.
My passion for this work stems from my desire to see a more inclusive future for everyone, where the talents neurodivergent people bring to the world can be truly valued. Not having the support systems in place that I needed prevented me from developing my strengths fully in my NHS career, now I want to help change this course so that others can move through the world more easily.
Whilst selective mutism is a very frustrating and isolating experience, it gave me clear direction on how to structure a career that allows me to reach my potential; and the lived experience that sits alongside my professional qualifications to support others to do the same.
